Lamoreaux Landing, Cabernet Franc 2012, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: Aromatic and deep ruby in color this cab franc has a nose of red fruit including red plum, raspberry, black cherry and some sweet baking spice.
On the palate the wine is medium in tannin and medium-plus in flavor intensity and acidity.
The acidity kicks in at the 70% point of the taste through to the finish.
Having just come back from Mendoza, Argentina and Santiago, Chile this week and having tasted many hot weather, high alcohol cab francs, it’s refreshing to return to a non-over the top version of the grape that shows balance with fruit, natural acidity and low alcohol.
Another fine expression of the grape in the New York Finger Lakes.
Bottle Note: Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars produces this award winning cabernet franc from our estate grown vineyards overlooking Seneca Lake. A vertically split trellising system is utilized to maximize sun exposure in the vineyards, while 18 months of American oak barrel again in the cellar provides intensity and weight on the palate.
