Macchia Wines, Gracious Graciano 2014, Lodi, California
Tasting Note: A wine to pair with a cigar or a meal with smoky flavor.
This purple –colored Graciano has an aromatic nose of tobacco and burnt toast overwhelming the dark black fruit which presents as an amalgam rather than as a collection of different purple fruits.
On the palate there is intense ripe fruit, with an underlay of leather and toasted oak with medium tannin.
Bottle Note: Graciano is to Spain what Chianti is to Italy. This gracious low-yielding variety thrives in warm, arid climates such as in Lodi. It is characterized by deep hues and a strong varietal aroma. Its ability to age well makes it a key component in Gran Reservas.
