Marques de Casa Concha, Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Maipo, Chile
Tasting Note: This purple-colored cabernet sauvignon has a nose of just-ripened blackberry and black currant layered over red plum and black cherry.
On the palate the full-bodied wine is medium-plus in acidity and tannin. Black and red fruit flavors mingle and present as a whole rather than a sum of their individual parts.
The wine mainly presents a straightforward presentation of the grape that is enjoyable in the way basic Chilean cabernets tend to be.
Bottle Note: This cabernet sauvignon from the Puente Alto (60%) and Pirque vineyards (40%), located close to the foothills of the Andes Mountains in the Maipo Valley. The rocky soils are alluvial in origin, poor in nutrients, and highly permeable due to the abundance of gravel in the subsoil. This limited-production cabernet sauvignon features black fruit aromas, highly concentrated flavors, firm tannins, and a smooth texture.
