Martín Códax, Albariño 2014, Rías Baixas, Spain, Wine Casual

Martín Códax, Albariño 2014, Rías Baixas, Spain

Tasting Note: Lemon to golden in color this Albariño has a nose of ripe golden fruit with some baking spice.

On the attack the dry white wine is round with mid-palate tartness that completes with a chalky, lime citrus, medium finish.

Bottle Note: The acclaimed white grape Albariño thrives in the rain and mists of the Rías Baixas DO in Northwestern Spain. Here Albariño is known as “the wine of the sea” both because of the vineyards’ proximity to the nearby Atlantic Ocean and the wine’s exquisite compatibility with the local seafood. Martín Códax Albariño is a crisp, elegant wine with notes of pear, passion fruit and apple. Named for the 13th Century Galacian troubadour whose romantic works are still sung locally. Martín Códax Albariño is a bright, refreshing example of this distinctive grape.
