Michael David Winery, Lust Zinfandel 2012, Lodi, California
Tasting Note: A standout zinfandel that shows finesse.
This dark purple-colored zinfandel has a nose of blackberry, raspberry, egg custard, clove and vanilla spice.
On the palate the softer-styled, medium-bodied zin expresses well-integrated mid-palate complexity with cedar and soft, black fruit notes.
This wine was aged for 15 months in new American oak, then 3 months in new French oak.
Bottle Note: I long for a wine, from the ripest of vines. My need is the greed, I cannot confine. I burn with desire, a passionate fire. My urge is the purge that will not expire. I covet and crave, ensnared as a slave. My yearn is the burn, unlocking the cage. I hunger for trust, my craving a must. My sin is the Zin, enslaving my lust. – Kevin Phillips
