Nik Weis, Urban Riesling 2019, Mosel, Germany
Tasting Note: A riesling with all the characteristic notes one expects from the Mosel but done in a restrained, reserved, accessible style.
Pale-intensity lemon-green in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-intensity nose of quince, green pear, white nectarine, almost-ripened pineapple and blossom with a hint of orange-citrus zest.
On the palate the off-dry, medium-bodied Mosel riesling has medium-intensity, green-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and completing with a medium-plus finish.
Complexity along the midpalate is subtle but present.
I’ve enjoyed Urban riesling over multiple vintages and 2019 tastes like a cooler vintage as compared to some past vintages.
See tasting notes for vintages from 2015, 2016, 2017.
Remains a go-to Mosel riesling for dependable enjoyment.
Bottle Note: A fresh and elegant riesling with a fruity character grown in great vineyard sites in the famous Mosel Valley. It is the perfect match with fish, poultry and pasta dishes and can go with a large variety of flavors, especially hot and spicy seasonings.
