Océane Vineyards, Cabernet Franc 2014, Hudson River Region, New York
Tasting Note: A low-alcohol cabernet franc that channels the Loire with its rusticity.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, pronounced-intensity nose of black plum, raspberry, green-pepper, black tea, tomato leaf and violet blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied cabernet franc has medium-plus-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity, and medium tannin.
The wine has velvety fruit flavors on the midpalate and is refreshingly low in alcohol.
I enjoyed this cabernet franc sitting on the porch in summer.
It’s nice to have a red wine you can enjoy without worrying about the alcohol when it’s hot outside.
Bottle Note: Our vineyard is an Océane of green flourishing in sandy soil with Sugar Loaf mountain in the distance. Enter our gates and meet the spirits.
