Olivier B, Les Amidyves 2015, Ventoux, Rhone, France
Tasting Note: A Ventoux GSM blend with an alluring bouquet and filled with brooding, substantial fruit.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blackberry, black plum, raspberry, strawberry, red cherry and blossom with a hint of clove baking spice.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied red blend has medium-plus-intensity, red-and-black fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin ultimately completing with a long, red-cherry-infused finish.
There is a steady undercurrent of complexity along the midpalate that reveals hints of raisin.
A red blend that would be a welcome partner to many dishes both light and heavy including the pan-seared sockeye salmon I’m enjoying tonight.
