Omega Cellars, Winemaker Select Cabernet Franc 2013, Mokelumne River, Lodi, California
Tasting Note: This cabernet franc’s fruit may be hot weather, but it tilts its hat towards the Loire Valley.
Deep ruby in color this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, red cherry, violet and some faint baking spice and dried rose petal.
On the palate the medium-plus bodied cabernet franc expresses an earthy mix of black and red fruit in a just-ripened, fruit-restrained style with medium to medium-plus tannin showing fine-grained cedar notes mid palate through to the finish.
A hot weather cabernet franc that shows fruit-ripeness restraint with finely-textured cedar and some elements of mid-palate complexity.
Bottle Note: An absolutely spectacular wine from our estate vineyards. Our cabernet franc exhibits an opaque bluish/purple hue offering up a beautifully sweet smorgasbord of aromas ranging from blueberry pie to espresso roast, white chocolate, cred de cassis, licorice, truffle and a touch of lead pencil shavings. There is even a floral underpinning to this extraordinary, highly-scented full-bodied wine.
