Oops, Spicy Splendor Carmenère 2013, Central Valley, Chile
Tasting Note: A basic and unimpressive carmenère.
This ruby-colored carmenère has a nose of green peppers, blackberry and red currant with herbaceous green aromas taking the lead.
On the palate the dry red is thin and medium bodied with muted black fruit showing ahead of the green character suggested on the nose.
There is little to no tannin though there are some minor vanilla highlights suggestive of the use of wood chips instead of wood barrel aging.
Quaffable for midweek drinking, but certainly not for guests.
Bottle Note: With vivid red tones, aromas of red ripe fruit and chocolate, this spicy beauty is well-structured for a smooth finish. Fabulous with gamey meats and lamb.
