Otis Kenyon, Roussanne 2017, Columbia Valley, Washington
Tasting Note: White-wine Rhone lovers will find welcome respite in this bottle of Columbia Valley, Washington roussanne.
Medium-intensity gold in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of honeysuckle, fresh cantaloupe melon, bruised green apple, nectarine and quince.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied rousanne delivers sunkissed, restrained-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity.
The wine has a creamy, buttery texture with flavor concentration, midpalate complexity and a stone-fruit-infused, medium-plus finish.
When I visited Washington state with limited luggage space, I brought home three bottles, and this was one of them.
Bottle Note: This Otis Kenyon name inflamed emotions in the 1920s. Today the passion of another generation of Otis Kenyons is ignited by our incendiary past and the exquisite fruit from the best vineyards in the northwest. The warmth and complexity of our wines reflect the mystery of our namesake and the mystique of our terroir, each reveals secrets selectively to those who inquire.
