Penfolds, Bin Kalimna Bin 28 Shiraz 2013, South Australia, Australia
Tasting Note: A full-bodied, ripe-fruit syrah with a restrained aroma character that delivers slightly less restraint on the palate.
This purple, medium-intensity shiraz has a nose of blackberry fruit and some baking spice.
On the palate the full-bodied wine is medium-plus in ripe tannin.
The shiraz’s high alcohol is in balance with its fruit character with additional flavors of coffee, chocolate and jammy red raspberry.
The wine is round, rich, dark and concentrated in style.
Bottle Note: Penfolds has long maintained a system of numbered “bins” in the cellars at Magill where the finest wines were started. The renowned Bin series first created in 1959 reflects Penfolds meticulous winemaking approach of sourcing the best fruit from premium vineyards, in order to marry both regional and varietal characters to the distinctive Penfolds style. Penfolds Bin 28 helps define the proven synergy between rich South Australian Shiraz and well-integrated American oak derived from 12 months barrel maturation. It is Penfold’s oldest Bin wine. As with all Bin 28 wine, this wine will benefit from careful cellaring. We invite you to explore the Penfolds range and discover a success story more than 170 years old.
