Penns Woods Cabernet Franc Reserve 2014 – Ripe Fruit with Subtlety of Flavor

Penns Woods, Cabernet Franc Reserve 2014, Pennsylvania, Wine Casual

Penns Woods, Cabernet Franc Reserve 2014, Pennsylvania

Tasting Note: A supple cabernet franc with a ripe-fruit profile that retains subtlety of flavor.

Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, graphite, pencil shavings and dried-crushed violet blossom with hints of raspberry puree.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied cabernet franc has medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and plush, medium tannin.

A cabernet franc with many of the attractive Loire elements you love but absent any of the green notes often associated with old-world cab franc.

Bottle Note: Like the visionary William Penn, this wine was crafted with the future in mind. Arriving here required the latest technology and wine making techniques. We feel this wine represents a small piece of what the future holds with regard to Pennsylvania viticulture and its devoted wine community. Honoring this spirit and tradition, a portion from the proceeds from this bottle will be used to furthering wine and grape research in Pennsylvania.
