Plaisir de Merle, Cabernet Franc 2015, Paarl, South Africa
Tasting Note: A cabernet franc with a mix of warm- and cool-weather elements and characteristics.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of violet, black plum, pencil shavings, forest floor and some soft, vegetal notes.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied cabernet franc has ripe, velvety, medium-plus tannin.
The wine displays flavor intensity and midpalate complexity along with a combination of warm-weather and cool-climate flavor elements.
Bottle Note: Bright ruby red in color, aromatic blackberry, cherries and cedar wood on the nose with inviting flavors of plum and chocolate in the mouth. A firm, but ripe tannin structure assures that the wine will soften with age. This wine was aged in French oak for 16 months.
