Poggio Anima, Samael Montepulciano D’Abruzzo 2019, Italy
Tasting Note: A mellow Montepulciano D’Abruzzo that is filled with bright fruit.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blackberry, black plum and red cherry with a hint of violet blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied Montepucliano D’Abruzzo has medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and completing with a medium finish.
A good, simple red wine that I’m enjoying with a Monday-night meal of salmon and mixed vegetables.
Bottle Note: Momento Audere Semper. Abruzzo is known for it rugged hills and dense forests as well as optimal weather. The sunshine drenched hills are the birthplace of Montepulciano. This wine is full of black fruits with a dash of exotic spices making it perfect for near term drinking but has some tannins to reward some patience.
