Quintay, Clava Reserve Carmenere 2012, Rapel Valley, Chile
Tasting Note: This is an elegant, dry, dark ruby-colored carmenere.
On the nose you get notes of black fruit, green pepper, and fresh-cut grass. This carmenere is supple and medium bodied with hints of sweet oak and light acidity on the finish.
Faint aftertastes of tobacco and black currant also emerge when your sip is complete nudging you towards another sip.
Bottle Note: Intense ruby red in color, this carmenere has note of plums, wile flowers, black pepper, menthol and mulberries. Fresh, youthful with soft sweet tannins although intense with great structure and persistency on the palate. With the well structured tannins, together with the balanced fruit, it has a great potential for cellaring, and this seductive carmenere is an elegant example of this variety.
