Reininger, Helix Merlot 2011, Columbia Valley, Washington
Tasting Note: A straightforward, easy-going merlot.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of red plum, raspberry puree, red cherry and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied merlot delivers medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and slightly-velvety, medium tannin.
A good, simple merlot to pair with a weekday meal.
Bottle Note: The name Helix honors our grandparents and a family farming tradition that dates back to the late 1800s. Marvin and Erva Tucker met at Helix High School, fell in love, married and began farming on their own. Our generation’s goal of building a new winery as made possible by the sale of land near Helix in 2003. Without our grandparents and our parents’ love and support, we could not have realized our dream.
