Rooster Hill Vineyards, Gewürztraminer 2013, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: Rose bouquet, cranberry and lychee are what you get on the nose of this lemon-colored gewürztraminer.
The aromas carry to the palate as flavors but with less rose bouquet and more green fruit.
The gewürztraminer is medium-plus to full bodied, and definitely one of the fuller-bodied expressions of the grape you’ll find in the Finger Lakes.
Rooster’s gewürz reminds me of a Cotes dû Rhone, a rough-around-the edges wine from France, that as wine writer, Dorothy Gaiter, is hearty and perfect for a rainy day.
Yes, this gewürz is rough-around-the edges and would make a fine Cotes du Rhone drinkers white wine.
What do you think?
Bottle Note: Bright and crisp with crisp pear notes with hints of fresh wildflowers and ginger spice.
