Sabeo, Monastrell 2016, Jumilla, Spain
Tasting Note: For those who think organic and biodynamic wines are weak and flimsy, behold this biodynamically produced monastrell (mourvédre) from Jumilla, Spain where the grape sings and sucker-punches your preconceptions.
Medium-to-deep intensity purple in color this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, kirsch, blackberry and vanilla and clove baking spice.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied wine has a weighty mouthfeel with velvety medium-plus tannin backing ripe, concentrated black fruit flavors.
The finish is long and cedar infused. There is complexity and balance even at a 15% alcohol level.
I’m getting more before it’s gone.
Bottle Note: Red wine made with organic grapes. This wine has been made using organic monastrell grapes.
