San Felipe Malbec 2015 – Old World & Restrained in Style

San Felipe, Malbec 2015, Mendoza, Argentina, Wine Casual

San Felipe, Malbec 2015, Mendoza, Argentina

Tasting Note: A malbec made more in the Old World, restrained tradition, rather than in the fruit-forward style for which the region is famous.

Deep purple in color this wine has an aromatic nose of red currant, raspberry and black plum with hints of black cherry and light vanilla baking spice.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied malbec shows its red and black fruit flavors on the attack and is relatively straightforward ultimately completing with a medium-plus, black-cherry infused finish.

Bottle Note: The winemaking tradition of San Felipe started at the beginning of the 19th century and today is recognized as one of Argentina’s most prominent wineries. The name San Felipe has been synonymous with quality Argentine wine. Aromas of berries and spice lead into flavors of black cherry, and cinnamon followed by a full smooth finish of bright tannins, light tobacco and coffee from 6 months spent in oak.
