Simonnet-Febvre, 100 Series Pinot Noir 2016, France
Tasting Note: A good, easygoing, straight-forward French pinot noir.
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has a nose of red cherry, cassis, strawberry, raspberry compote and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied wine delivers medium-intensity, tart, red-and-black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and medium tannin.
The wine is good in its dimension but lacks complexity to qualify as very good.
Bottle Note: Using traditional Burgundian techniques, low-cropping pinot noir grapes from Burgundy and the South of France yield this attractive wine which displays typical pinot flavors, strawberry and cherry. Smooth tannin and good length make this wine the perfect match for charcuterie, white meats and chocolate cake.
