Stony Run, Chambourcin Classic 2016, Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania
Tasting Note: A reserve chambourcin aged in first-use oak in which no expense was spared to make the wine great.
The oak smooths out the wine and takes out the foxiness that can sometimes be associated with hybrid grapes.
The chambourcin is balanced with medium-plus acidity, pleasing floral elements and a silky mouthfeel.
Because it is low in tannin, this wine would be perfect to introduce a white-wine drinker to red wine.
I enjoy wines with a solid acid structure and florality, and this chambourcin fits the bill.
Definitely worth a try.
