Sunce Vineyard & Winery, Cabernet Sauvignon 2000, Strycker’s Vineyard, Clear Lake, California
Tasting Note: A nearly 20-year old, unfiltered cabernet sauvignon that still expresses silky fruit and flavor intensity.
Medium-intensity ruby in color with some garnet around the edges, this wine has a medium-intensity nose of black cherry, raspberry, red plum, blossom and blackberry puree.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied cabernet delivers medium-intensity, just-ripened, red-and-black fruit flavors supported by ripe, medium tannin.
Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County. We specialize in small lots of varietal wine and unique blends. We realize it is a choice how to affect the passage of time, perhaps to find eternity in a grain of sand or in a drop of wine. A 32-day fermentation produced intense, extracted fruit with noticeable tannins. This is full flanked, 100% cabernet sauvignon with a blackberry, grapey, suck-your-teeth varietal quality. It is an excellent accompaniment to beef wellington, fillet mignon, pepper steak, lamb stew, and any heavy meat-sauce dishes. Frané Franicevic, Winemaker. Only 400 cases made. Unfiltered.
