Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Old Vines Grenache 2019, Clarksburg, Heringer Vineyard, California
Tasting Note: A bright, fresh grenache with depth of flavor and red-fruit intensity.
Medium-intensity ruby in color with some garnet around the edges, this wine has an aromatic, pronounced-intensity nose of strawberry, red cherry, red currant and red plum.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied grenache has medium-plus-intensity, red-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and medium tannin completing with a black-plum-infused finish.
There are notes of complexity on the midpalate.
A cheery grenache with body.
Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County – specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wines and classic blends. Frane’s stellar example of grenache offers up ripe cherries, strawberries, while a violet, cedar character dominates the nose. Gobs of pureed red fruit flavors layered delicately in mixed spice notes mingle smoothly on this full-bodied personality. An aftertaste of your favorite fruit smooth lingers on the finish. Pair with Moroccan Skirt Steak, Hungarian Goulash, Indian curries and macaroni and cheese. Aging: 5-9 years. Only 7 barrels made.
