Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Pinot Noir 2019, Zora’s Vineyard, Cuvee of Clones 667 & 777, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California
Tasting Note: A pinot noir that presents the grape in an imminently-accessible and classic style.
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of red cherry, dried cranberry, black plum, raspberry puree, strawberry jam, red currant and rosehip.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied pinot noir has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and just-ripened, medium-plus tannin ultimately completing with a long finish.
Complex red-fruit notes ride through the length of the taste.
A solid pinot noir.
Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County – specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wine and classic blends. This Zora’s Cuvee represents the best of both worlds: Dijon Clones 667 and 77. Grown adjacently on Sunce’s estate, they were hand-harvested and whole-cluster fermented together. An extended aging of eighteen months in 30% new French oak adds depth and silk. A refined, fully expressive dark plum, interspersed with fennel and all-spice awaken the senses to an unnamable nostalgia-laden finish. Pair with the right mood, the right person, the perfect salmon, pork, chicken or tofu dish, or pair it with nothing at all, and have a romantic evening alone, just you and your Zora’s pinot. Frane Franicevic, Winemaker. Only 8 barrels made.
