Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Reserve Malbec 2015, Arrowhead Vineyard – Block K, Sonoma Valley, California
Tasting Note: A supple, silky malbec with ripe, yet reserved fruit that dances around rather than overwhelms your palate.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blueberry, kirsch, red cherry, boysenberry, red currant and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied malbec had medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, medium tannin ultimately completing with a medium-plus finish.
Pair with grilled meats and chill before serving to accentuate acidity.
Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County – specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wine and classic blends. Sunce’s Sonoma Valley malbec is rich, with deep aromas of cherry cider, truffles, and hints of eucalyptus. In the mouth, this dark wine shows balanced fruit from start to finish, with flavors of black cherry, black tea and mild earth, as well as nuances of vanilla and cardamom. Exceptionally age worthy: 8-12 years. Pair with mature cheddar or pecorino, Indian Tandoori chicken, flank steak, Chile Colorado, and beef stew. Frane Franicevic, Winemaker. Only 4 barrels made.
