Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Zinfandel 2013, Talty Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley
Tasting Note: A Dry Creek zinfandel that proves the ageability of the grape variety and showcases the benefits of letting the tannin soften over time.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has a pronounced-intensity, aromatic nose of black plum, raspberry puree, blackberry, kirsch, violet and bramble.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied zinfandel delivers ripe, medium-plus-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose underpinned by ripe, smooth, medium-plus tannin.
The wine is balanced with midpalate complexity and a raisin-infused, medium-plus finish.
Another winning wine from Sunce.
Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County – specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wine and classis blends. Beautiful fruit from a beautiful vineyard. Reddish in hue this 2013 is assertive, handsome and well-behaved. A classic Dry Creek Zin with flavors of mixed berry pie, red plums, a pinch of baking spices, and just a touch of vanilla from the Pennsylvania oak. Pairs well with a good friend next to a fireplace or a nice juicy steak. If you’re a vegetarian, think a rich, eggplant parmesan.
