Tres Palacios, Reserve Carmenere 2013, Maipo Valley, Chile
Tasting Note: This wine has an earthy nose of green bell pepper typical of the carmenere grape and fortunately the vegetal taste does not carry to the palate.
This soft, medium-bodied purple-colored wine has a slightly bitter end laced with medium-plus acidity. Middle of the pack for Chilean carmenere.
More time in the bottle could help tame the acid. Not bad carmenere for a weekday.
Bottle Note: 60% of this wine was allowed to stand for 10 months in French oak barrels. 40% in stainless steel tanks, then stay in the bottle for 6 months.
