Trivento, Eolo Malbec 2014, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina
Tasting Note: A silky malbec from 100+ year old vines that reveals elegance, restraint and balance.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of blackberry pie, black currant, rhubarb, black plum, black-cherry compote with warming hints of vanilla and clove baking spice.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied malbec delivers restrained, just-ripened black fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, fine-grained tannin.
There is midpalate complexity, medium-plus flavor intensity, and balance between the fruit and tannin structure.
This malbec tastes like what you’d imagine a French winemaker would make if he were transported to Argentina and asked to let the grapes and terroir speak for themselves.
Bottle Note: Eolo is an enduring classic. Above the Mendoza River, in Luján de Cuyo, winds blow through the century-old vineyard, providing perfect growing conditions for this truly selective wine. Our finest wine is a fitting tribute to the ancient keeper of the Winds, Eolo.
