Twisted Gum, Shiraz 2015, Granite Belt, Queensland, Australia
Tasting Note: A shiraz with an impressive wild streak of black fruit and florality.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, blackberry puree, blossom, black cherry and raspberry with hints of vanilla baking spice.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied shiraz has medium-plus flavor intensity with a streak of tart, chalky black fruit running throughout the length of the taste ultimately completing with a concentrated, long finish.
The wine is medium in acidity with ripe, slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin.
This wine was dry farmed and has resulting concentrated flavors produced by rootstock that had to work extra.
Bottle Note: Single vineyard. Dry grown. Our tiny dry grown vineyard produces low yields of high-quality grapes that are hand-picked at optimum ripeness and flavor. These grapes are then carefully crafted into small batches of exceptional wines that we are proud to share with you. This inky shiraz features a rich palate of black cherries and dark forest fruits, a hint of pepper spice and firm but ripe tannins. Will cellar for 10 years or more. Enjoy it with a thick-cut BBQ steak. 1,900 bottles produced. Winemaker – Andy Williams.
