Viña Maquis, Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Colchagua Valley, Chile
Tasting Note: A hearty, cabernet sauvignon that is both ripe and savory.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black currant, fig, black cherry, blackberry, forest floor, rhubarb and blueberry.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied cabernet sauvignon has medium-plus-intensity, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, medium tannin ultimately completing with a cassis-filled, medium-plus finish.
The 3% carmenere shines in the wine and imparts a wonderful accent.
Bottle Note: The label depicts a piece of silver jewelry previously used as an adornment by the Mapuches, who are local indigenous Chileans. This wine is made from cabernet sauvignon grapes grown between the Chimbarongo Creek and the Tinguiririca River on the Maquis Estate in central Colchagua Valley. The two-meter-deep alluvial soil contains 25% clay, which produces cabernet sauvignon that is ripe, elegant and has extraordinary complexity. Certified sustainable wine of Chile.
