Vinedos y Bodegas J.M. Martinez Verdú, Xenysel Monastrell 2015, Jumilla, Spain
Tasting Note: Figs, stewed fruit and flavor intensity all characterize this delightfully complex and aromatic monastrell.
Deep-intensity ruby in color this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, blackberry preserve, raspberry compote, fig and clove baking spice.
OTP, the dry, full-bodied monastrell delivers black fruit flavors suggested on the nose with stewed fruit predominating.
The ripe, medium-plus bodied tannin complements the grippy texture.
There is balance between fruit and tannin and midpalate complexity that ultimately completes with a long finish.
The wine could easily be served post-dinner with a plate of cheeses and function as a dessert wine or paired with your main course as I’m enjoying now.
Bottle Note: Young wine elaborated with grapes from old Monastrell Pie Franco vineyards. Intense red cherry color, strong in nose, clean and complex with mature fruity flavor. 100% Monastrell Pie Franco.
