Vox Vineti, Nebbiolo 2017, Galloping Cat Vineyard, Pennsylvania
Tasting Note: Vox Vineti’s second vintage of Nebbiolo shows Pennsylvania’s cool-weather, grape-growing potential in a way that expands the potential of the Nebbiolo grape in an exciting way.
Medium-intensity ruby in color with some garnet around the edges, this wine has an aromatic, medium-intensity nose of freshly-macerated red-and-black cherry, dried raspberry and red plum with hints of sage brush and violet blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied Nebbiolo has medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and slightly-grippy, medium tannin.
There is midpalate complexity with hints of orange-citrus zest that ultimately completes with a red-cherry-infused, medium-plus finish.
The tannin is well-integrated with gentle, mutually-reinforcing, floral, red-fruit elements running throughout the length of taste.
