Voyatzis, Kyklos Agiorgitiko 2014, Peloponnese, Greece
Tasting Note: A vibrant, food-friendly Greek red from the Agiorgitiko grape that would complement seafood and more.
Ruby in color this wine has a nose of red cherry, red currant and raspberry with notes of vanilla and cinnamon baking spice.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied wine is slightly tart on the attack with vibrant, youthful red fruit flavors followed by medium-plus acidity which refreshes.
A relatively straight-forward red with some traces of mid-plate complexity.
Would recommend chilling this wine for 30 minutes to highlight its acidity and youthfulness.
Bottle Note: Winemaker Yannis Voyatzis, with a new vinification approach, circles (Kyklos meaning “circle” in Greek) the well-known Peloponnesian grape variety – Agiorgitiko, capturing its complex fruit character, in an exciting, pleasurable rich and authentic wine.
