Willm, Reserve Pinot Gris 2014, Alsace, France

Tasting Note: A creamy, slightly-off-dry pinot gris from Alsace with lots of body, and ripe, understated fruit.

Medium-intensity gold in color, this wine has a nose of baked green apple, pear compote, cumquat, and just-ripened nectarine.

On the palate the off-dry, medium-plus-bodied pinot gris is creamy in texture with medium-intensity fruit flavors suggested on the nose completing with a medium, tropical-fruit-infused finish.

There is balance and varietal typicity underpinned by medium acidity.

Bottle Note: The Willm vineyard, combining Grand Cru Kirchberg de Barr and the well-known Clos Gaensbroennel, was planted in Barr in 1896. Rich with lovely notes of candied-fruit and honey. Pinot gris is perfect with fishes in sauce, smoked salmon or duck magret.
