Andis, Cabernet Franc 2012, Sierra Foothills, California
Tasting Note: A cabernet franc that captures the basic hot weather, Gold Country cab franc style without fuss.
Purple in color this wine has a nose of warm, ripe black and red fruit including black plum, blackberry, red currant and jammy, prune compote.
There is also vanilla and clove baking spice along with faint cedar notes.
On the attack this medium-plus bodied cabernet franc presents ripe fruit followed by a somewhat surprising medium-plus acidity and grippy, prickly tannin that finishes on the back your tongue.
Most of the complexity of the wine is in the last 1/3 of the taste.
A good starter cab franc for the region.
Bottle Note: This high elevation cab franc possesses aromas of color, cherry, and mint. Lively on the palate with hints of coffee, raspberry, and cocoa. Wonderful with aged cheese, lamb and mushroom dishes. 100% cabernet franc.
