Bodegas Volver, Tarima Monastrell 2015, Alicante, Spain
Tasting Note: A standard Monastrell that solidly delivers the grape.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of blueberry, black plum, black cherry and clove and vanilla baking spice.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied mourvédre echoes flavors suggested on the nose completing with a long finish.
The wine is medium in acidity with slightly-stalky medium-plus tannin contributing to a velvety texture and mouthfeel.
Chill slightly before serving to increase the perception of acidity and enhance the floral aromas created by carbonic maceration.
Bottle Note: The image of the passion flower was chosen for Tarima because the blossom never ceases to amaze and entice people around the world. The vivid colors and complex structure draws you into for a closer look; just as the color and aromas of this wine attract your attention. Made from Monastrell grapes grown on gnarled vines in the rugged, and climate of Alicante, Tarima blossoms in your glass with notes of licorice, chocolate and a hint of dark violets.
