Bohigas, Reserva Brut Cava, Catalonia, Spain
Tasting Note: A cava that competes with Champagne.
This sparkling wine enters your glass with a creamy mousse and expresses the autolytic effects of being aged on the lees for at least 15 months as is required of Reserva cava.
Pale-intensity lemon in color, this wine has a medium-intensity nose of green apple, pear, brioche, bread dough, yogurt, blossom and chamomile.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied cava is medium in alcohol and is underpinned by medium-plus acidity and flavor intensity.
The wine is creamy in texture with aromas on the nose continuing to the palate along with flavor of toast and lemon citrus.
The cava completes with a medium-plus finish and is very good in quality because of the intensity of flavors and aroma.
The cava also lacks notes of rubber one often finds in cava which is an added plus in my book.
