Cà Rozzeria, Neive Nebbiolo 2015, Langhe, Piedmont, Italy
Tasting Note: A Langhe nebbiolo with the sort of pleasing, floral aromatics that made you fall in love with pinot noir – and at an astonishingly-affordable price for the value.
Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of red cherry, red plum, strawberry and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied nebbiolo presents soft, red-fruit flavors suggested on the nose bolstered by medium-plus acidity and a medium-plus finish.
The wine is silky in texture with balance between fruit and ripe, smooth, medium tannin.
A nebbiolo that impresses more than many a Barolo you’ll encounter.
Bottle Note: The cellar of every artisan winemaker has its secrets, or better yet, its extra parts: additional cask or an unallocated single vineyard. Most times, these wines are whisked off to another cellar to become something else. Their soul, story and origins are lost forever. Cà Rozzeria is the body shop (carrozzeria) which allows the grower to bottle his extras just as they are and stick with his story to the end. The wine leaves its cellar with a different look in label only, and remains just as the grower intended it. Cà Rozzeria wines are always estate bottled by the growers who make them.
