Casas del Bosque, La Cantera Botanic Series Sauvignon Blanc 2020, Casablanca Valley, Chile
Tasting Note: An electric sauvignon blanc with bright fruit flavors and zing.
Pale-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, white peach, golden apple and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied sauvignon blanc has medium-plus-intensity, orchard-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and completing with a lemon-citrus-infused, medium-plus finish.
Citrus notes percolate across the midpalate and complement the acid structure.
Sauvignon blanc to repeat.
Bottle Note: Casas del Bosque is one of the most prestigious family wineries in Chile, internationally renowned for the exceptional quality of its sauvignon blanc from the Casablanca Valley. It has won important awards and recognitions in Chile and abroad since 1993. The grapes for this sauvignon blanc come from vineyard blocks planted in “La Cantera,” the place from where the stones were extracted to build the winery. A north-facing hillside of red clay, very exposed to the sun but cooled by the coastal climate. This cuvée was made together with New Zealand consultant and winemaker Sam Harrop MW, adding up the expertise of three winemakers and three continents. The wine features a lush and typical nose of coastal sauvignon, is fresh, saline and long.
