Catena Zapata, Nicasia Vineyard Malbec 2018, Uco Valley, Argentina

Tasting Note: A premium malbec that is a high expression of the grape.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blackberry, black plum, red currant and hay.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied malbec has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and supple, medium tannin ultimately completing with a medium-plus finish.

There is some chalkiness in the midpalate that creates a pleasing midpalate texture.

Malbec at its best.

Bottle Note: The Catena Zapata Family is entering its second century of winemaking in Mendoza, Argentina. Nicasia Vineyard is located in Paraje Altamira, in the district of La Consulta, south of the Uco Valley. The soils are gravelly with patches of clay and abundant surface stones.
