Chalk Hill Estate Winery, Estate Chardonnay 2016, Chalk Hill, Sonoma, California

Tasting Note: A chardonnay with depth of flavor and a sunny, golden character with just a hint of baking spice to add to the complexity.

Medium-intensity gold in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of golden apple, quince, blossom, white nectarine, marmalade, brioche and clove baking spice.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied chardonnay has ripe, medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and completing with a long finish.

The wine has a creamy texture, midpalate complexity and a restrained sense of itself while delivering on the palate.

Bottle Note: Chalk Hill is located in the Chalk Hill appellation of the Russian River Valley. This wine is hand-crafted from grapes grown exclusively on the estate. Each variety is matched to specific sites and mesoclimates; gentle winemaking practices capture the diversity of each vineyard block, resulting in wines of distinction and elegance. This wine was bottled unfiltered to preserve its unique and natural character. –William P. Foley II, Proprietor.
