Concha Y Toro, Marques de Casa Concha, Carmenere 2015, Peumo, Chile

Tasting Note: A pure, silky expression of carmenere that stands on its own.

Deep-intensity ruby in color this aromatic wine has a nose of black plum, black currant, bramble and violet.

On the palate, the dry, medium-plus bodied wine delivers fruit flavors suggested on the nose with a slight floral note on the finish.

The wine has ripe, medium-tannin and is smooth in texture.

Absent are the green, pyrazine flavors one sometimes encounters with Chilean carmenere.

A pure expression of a classic blending grape.

Bottle Note: This carmenere comes from our historic Peumo Vineyard located on old river terraces above the north bank of the Cachapoal River in the Rapel Valley, 558 feet above sea level. This limited production wine was aged in French oak barrels for at least 16 months. Striking yet elegant aromas of ripe dark fruits, spices, and black pepper are synonymous with Peumo’s distinctive terroir. Oak aging lends delicious chocolate and vanilla notes to this voluptuous wine with sweet, round tannins and a long elegant finish.
