Tasting Note: A smooth, red-and-black-fruit-laced carmenere that presents the grape in its classic form.

Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of red plum, black currant, raspberry, green pepper and tobacco.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied wine echoes fruit flavors suggested on the nose along with some vanilla baking spice.

The wine is smooth in texture with ripe, medium-plus tannin.

There is also some mid-palate complexity that is somewhat understated in character.

Bottle Note: From cooler vineyards near riverbanks in Chile, Concha Y Toro carefully selects its grapes to make the highest quality wines with an emphasis on freshness: Serie Riberas Gran Reserva. Planted on an old terrace on the northern river bank and cooled by the Cachapoal River, the carmenere vines afford powerful and concentrated wines laden with ripe red fruit, violet, and chocolate.
