Domaine de La Paleine, Saumur-Champigny 2015, Loire, France

Tasting Note: A Saumur-Champigny with curious buttery notes that soften cabernet franc’s herbal, Loire character.

Medium-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of bruised black plum, summer raspberry puree, brioche, red cherry, forest floor and buttery-day-old croissant.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied cabernet franc has a creamy texture with medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose along with pencil shavings and hay supported by medium acidity and completing with a medium-plus finish.

There is complexity in the midpalate and a plush mouthfeel that rides along the entire length of the taste.

A distinctive cabernet franc from Saumur-Champigny that would satisfy a white-Burgundy lover who enjoys a hint of oak.

Bottle Note: The heartbeat of the Loire drew Laurence & Marc Vincent to Le-Puy-Notre-Dame, a town that retains all its authenticity and country charm. A parcel of 100% cabernet franc vines named “Le Gory” is the source of this vibrant and mineral Saumur-Champigny wine, with a medium body, aromas of wild berries and smoky pepper, and a finesse woven from the limestone terroir. A winemaker’s dedication reveals itself in harmonious persistence, making it a perfect pairing for grilled meats and vegetables. Enjoy!
