Domaine Pascal Aufranc Probus Juliénas 2015 – Tips Towards Black Fruit

Domaine Pascal Aufranc, Probus Juliénas 2015, Beaujolais, France, Wine Casual

Domaine Pascal Aufranc, Probus Juliénas 2015, Beaujolais, France

Tasting Note: A straightforward Juliénas that tips its hat more towards black-fruit than red fruit.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, red currant, bramble, violet, and red cherry.

On the palate, the dry, medium-plus-bodied Beaujolais has medium flavor intensity supported by medium acidity and ripe, medium tannin.

The wine is mostly balanced with some tart, red-fruit elements shining at the beginning of the taste.

Bottle Note: Probus is made from the oldest vines of the estate and is a tribute to the Roman Emperor Probus who allowed the plantation of new vineyards in Gaul. It is aged partially in Burgundy barrels for 12 months in order to soften its tannins and bring more depth and complexity.
