Dow’s, 10 Year Old Tawny Port, Portugal, Wine Casual

Dow’s, 10 Year Old Tawny Port, Portugal

Tasting Note: Tawny Port is one of those pleasures in life that people don’t give themselves enough opportunities to enjoy.

This 10-year-old tawny Port is still lively and with the secondary development befitting its age.

Medium-intensity tawny in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of brioche, caramel, blackberry, vanilla baking spice, leather, red cherry and dried cranberry.

On the palate the full-bodied, medium-sweet tawny Port has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and completing with a medium-plus finish.

There are complex fruit and oak notes running throughout the wine that is decidedly youthful even at 10 years of age.

Serve slightly-chilled and consider adding tonic to lighten it up for aperitif enjoyment.

Bottle Note: This aged Tawny Port embodies the heritage of five generations of Symington family winemakers who have worked for over a century in the Douro vineyards of Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira. Charles Symington, winemaker and master blender, draws on centuries of craftmanship to select the finest wines for aging in seasoned wood at Dow’s Boa Vista Lodge. Serve lightly chilled. Charles Symington, Master Blender. Oak-aged for ten years. Wood aged at Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto. Lodge Register No.: DW1753.
