Dow’s, 20 Year Old Tawny Port, Portugal

Tasting Note: A 20-year-old-aged Port that will make you think back to what you were doing 20 years ago and smile thinking that this bottle was being prepared for you then.

This bottle has all the things you’d expect from a Port that has aged and been allowed to have its flavor profile evolve and mature in oak.

Medium-intensity tawny in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of raspberry, fig, dried red cherry, red plum, leather and dried cranberry with hints of brioche.

On the palate the medium-sweet Port has medium-plus-intensity, dried-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by ripe, medium tannin and completing with a long finish.

The wine has a complex midpalate with fruit that is still lively.

Today a bottle is likely being put in cask for 20 years for you to enjoy in the future, so enjoy the time capsule that is Port.

Bottle Note: This aged Tawny Port embodies the heritage of five generations of Symington family winemakers who have worked for over a century in the Douro vineyards of Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira. Charles Symington, winemaker and master blender, draws on centuries of craftsmanship to select the finest wines for aging in seasoned wood at Dow’s Boa Vista Lodge. Serve lightly chilled. Charles Symington, Master Blender. Made from grapes grown in pristine Douro Valley vineyards. Lodge Register No.: DW9963.
