Familia Deicas, Alántico Sur Albariño 2024, Uruguay
Tasting Note: This is an energetic white with lots of zip.
Tropical aromas including pineapple, yellow apple, orange blossom and ripe, freshly-sliced Anjou pear leap from the glass that is lined by a smattering of tight bubbles.
On the palate the wine is steely in a texture with a rounded midpalate that reveals mineral notes on the floral finish.
Pair with grilled fish, sautés and tapas.
Bottle Note: The Alántico Sur line is the true expression of the ocean and sea on our terroirs. Due to the proximity of the vineyards to the Atlantic Ocean or the Río de la Plata Estuary, the grapes grow less than 30 km from the coast, thus benefiting from its influence. The secret of coastal influence lies in the cool temperatures during the grape ripening period. Just like in Galicia, the freshness of the ocean allows us to harvest grapes early, which have high levels of aromatic compounds and acidity. These characteristics make them ideal for crafting a wine that is saline, intense and exhibits natural acidity.
