Flying Trout, Deep River Red 2015, Columbia Valley, Washington
Tasting Note: Could malbec and merlot be the peanut butter and jelly of the wine world?
Try this winning blend and experience how well these two grapes complement each other in Washington’s Columbia Valley.
Deep-intensity purple in color this wine has as an aromatic nose of raspberry, black plum, kirsch and blackberry with notes of violet.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied malbec-merlot blend delivers ripe fruit flavors suggested on the nose along with delightful floral streaks.
There is mid-palate complexity and balance between the fruit and ripe, medium tannin that completes with a medium-plus finish.
This is a blend I will look for again.
